- Volunteer Locally
FAWCO, www.fawco.org
The Federation of American Women's Clubs Overseas
One of the best ways to get involved and
use your skills is to join an American Women's Club
and volunteer for any number of fun positions, like
president, treasurer, sales and marketing assistant,
gala coordinator or webmaster. Most American Women's
Clubs overseas are members of FAWCO, an international
network of 74 independent clubs with a combined
membership of over 17,000 women in 33 countries
worldwide. It serves as a support network for American
women living and working abroad and is particularly
active in the fields of U.S. citizens' concerns,
education, environmental protection, and women's
and children's rights. In addition, each individual
American Women's Club in cities around the world,
such as the American Women's Club of Dusseldorf,
www.awcduesseldorf.org,
where I am a member, offers a plethora of fun activities
from baby groups and language lessons to running
groups and networking evenings, as well as continuing
education scholarships for adults and students.
Many volunteer positions are available. To find
the local American Women's Club in your city, see
www.fawco.org.
